As the owner of The Edge Hair Salon, I am proud to lead a team of extremely talented stylists and nail techs. My personality and background don't exactly reflect what your typical salon owner may look like. However, as an analytical entrepreneur who believes in continual education, quality products, and building a team that supports each others' success, The Edge Hair Salon has developed a very healthy reputation in the community.
My commitment to "keeping it local" as well as giving back to the community has helped our salon grow and attract talented staff members who want to be part of something special. Its rewarding to see how passionate each team member is about making every client look and feel beautiful.
I have been actively involved in the beauty industry for 7 years. Growing up with five sisters and a brother, trips to the salon were rare and coveted. Growing up in a strict home, I remember battling my mom to wear a side part in my hair! Eventually, she agreed, and this is where it all started. The salon to me is more than a great haircut and a flawless color. It is an escape and an experience.
After graduating Regency Beauty Institute, I interned for Regis Salons in Naperville. It is there I was introduced to Gordon Nelson, the CEO and head of world wide Regis continuing education. From him, I learned the importance of continuing education. This industry is constantly changing! That is what makes it so exciting! Staying on top of trends is what keeps us young. I strive to always be a step ahead of my competitors. I've studied alongside Nick Arrojo (TLC's "What Not To Wear") in his Master Colorist class in Downtown Chicago, as well as taken Trend Classes for Matrix in San Francisco and Lake Geneva. How blessed I've been in this industry!
I stayed with Regis for 5 years. Eventually managing for 4 years. I was introduced to so many great people through my years there. Clients just passing through from all over the world! Even coloring an up and coming country singer currently signed to a Nashville label! From there I was an independently contracted stylist at ZaZa's in Shorewood for a year and also spent some time styling models for photoshoots for a client of mine that is a professional photographer. I crossed paths with the owners from "The Edge" and knew this was an opportunity I couldn't turn down.
I specialize in color and color trends. Vibrant colors, ombrés, and highlights are plentiful in my repertoire. I love cutting and styling just as much, however!
One of my favorite quotes by Steve Pavlina is, "Passion and purpose go hand in hand. When you discover your purpose, you will normally find it’s something you’re tremendously passionate about." THIS is my purpose. And I am passionate about making my clients look and feel beautiful. I am so looking forward to the opportunity to service Plainfield. Here's to many years of laughter and great hair!
